In order to build a mandolin using a resonator cone designed for a guitar you have to make compromises in body size and scale length. The Beltona mandolin has a smaller cone specifically designed to fit the traditional mandolin body and no compromises have been made to either body size or scale length.
The sound is big and round, full of character ,warmth and depth. The 8” cone gives plenty of cutting power without being bass heavy.
The back and front of the instrument are curved and contoured and the sound hole is based on a traditional New Zealand emblem of the unfurling fern frond, the Koru.
The coverplate is made of carbon fibre and the same material is used to strengthen the neck.
The body material is resin and has all the weight advantages of all our other instruments.
